South Florida CEO, November 2007 - Tasty Bites -New and Notable in South Florida Dining - Ishq: india's eclectic fare is as hot as its economy, and Executive Chef-Owner Kavita Kamlani insourced her own take on contemporary Indian cuisine, opening Ishq on Ocean Drive with husband Sham in September. Lunch and dinner preparations include a tasty pakora (a crisp on the outside, creamy and tangy on the inside vegetarian fritter); tandoor-prepared chicken, meat, seafood and cheese; and Bombay baby back ribs. We particularly enjoyed aloo chaat, a disk of potato topped with refreshing mix of mung bean, chick pea and cucumber. Crab samosas get a tamarind and mint chutney treatment. On the drink side, samsara is a delicious mix of apricot brandy, triple sec, orange juice and red wine. Naan breads and desserts such as Mango Pot du Creme complete this modern-day passage to India.
